Live 1-on-1 Qira’at classes on Zoom with qualified Egyptian Al-Azhar teachers. Learn a new riwayah such as Warsh or Qalun, or study the Ten Qira’at step by step, and earn an Ijazah with a connected chain (sanad) from teachers who hold one.

The Qira’at are the authentic ways the Quran has been recited since the time of the Prophet ﷺ, each passed down through a connected chain of teachers. Ten of them are accepted by the scholars, and each comes to us through two narrators, giving 20 riwayat.
Most Muslims in the West recite in Hafs ‘an ‘Asim. Learning another Qira’ah, such as Warsh ‘an Nafi‘, shows you how the same words have been recited in other parts of the Muslim world, with differences in Madd, Imalah, Hamzah and some letters.
Qira’at can only be learned properly by listening and reciting to a teacher. That is why every class is live and 1-on-1: your teacher hears every word and corrects it on the spot.
At the free trial, your teacher listens to your recitation and helps you pick the right track.
Every student starts from their current level. Your teacher sets the pace after the free trial.
A relaxed 30-minute class. Your teacher listens to your Hafs recitation and asks about your goal.
Polish Makharij, Sifat and the Tajweed rules in your current recitation.
Learn the usul of one riwayah, such as Warsh, and apply them passage by passage.
Study the seven readers through Ash-Shatibiyyah, comparing their readings verse by verse.
Add the three readers through Ad-Durrah and recite with all ten.
Qira’at build on Tajweed. Our four Tajweed levels make sure your recitation is solid before you add new readings.

Qira’at are learned by ear, from teacher to student. Live 1-on-1 classes make that possible from home.

The Ten Qira’at are the ten authentic ways of reciting the Quran accepted by the scholars, each named after a famous reader: Nafi‘, Ibn Kathir, Abu ‘Amr, Ibn ‘Amir, ‘Asim, Hamzah, Al-Kisa’i, Abu Ja‘far, Ya‘qub and Khalaf. Each reading is passed down through two narrators, giving 20 riwayat.
A Qira’ah is the reading of one of the ten readers. A riwayah is the version of that reading passed down by one of his two narrators. For example, Hafs is a riwayah of the Qira’ah of ‘Asim.
Yes. You should read the Quran fluently in Arabic with good Tajweed. If you are not there yet, start with our Tajweed course, or read our guide to Tajweed rules of the Quran.

Yes. Our Qira’at teachers hold Ijazah with a connected chain (sanad) and grant Ijazah to students who complete a riwayah, or the Qira’at, to the required standard. Your teacher will tell you at the free trial what the Ijazah path looks like for your goal.
Many students start with Warsh or Qalun ‘an Nafi‘, as they are widely recited in North and West Africa. Your teacher will suggest the best choice for your goal at the free trial.
It depends on your level and pace. Learning one riwayah takes much less time than all ten, which is long-term study over several years. Your teacher gives you a realistic plan at the trial.
Students can start from age 10, the age at which we begin advanced study such as Ijazah, as long as they already read the Quran well with Tajweed.
